For the English teacher and co-founder of the Yes Institute, Luís Jorge Guzmán, the country house where he has lived for 26 years with his wife Aranza, in the municipality of Rivera (Huila), is simply the “house of his dreams” . With the sympathy that characterizes him, “George”, as he is affectionately called, opened its doors to HOGARES magazine to show us a little of his life, his family and his passions.
English and art captivated him at an early age, “They were two things that deeply attracted my attention since I was a child. When I was 12 I discovered that I had a facility for languages, so when I finished my high school I went to study English in the United States, which I achieved in the midst of the economic impossibilities that arose. I also liked theater, cinema, painting and sculpture, and due to coincidences in life I worked for a long time in the United States for a firm that was dedicated to interior design ”, he indicated.
George studied languages at The University of Tulsa in the State of Oklahoma, and years later he studied Advertising at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University. Also read affinity photo cracked. Despite having been outside this country for 27 years, curiously he longed for the municipality of Rivera. He recalled that “Although I lived in the United States, when I came to the land I always had the illusion of one day living in Rivera; After I married Aranza, we were given the opportunity to acquire this house and enjoy it ”.
His living place
The one-story house located in the Orense Residential Complex, has a colonial appearance at first glance; it has wide corridors and green areas, which evoke the pleasant tranquility of the countryside. Throughout his life he has known different countries, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Spain and Mexico, among others, however in terms of art, he prefers the Colombian. It has paintings by the artists Lucy Tejada, Freddy Perdomo, Jaime López and the Huila masters Juan Rosillo (With extensive experience in the US), Luís Ángel and Olmo Guillermo Liévano; and in sculpture works by Juan Diego Guzmán and the Caqueteño master Luís Emiro Garzón.
The visit to George and Mrs. Aranza was a pleasant experience, not only because of the material beauty of their property but also because of the spontaneity, joy and hospitality they gave us.
